Afternoon tea at La Mamounia Hotel

The special insiders’ tip for an afternoon tea: La Mamounia is the most famous hotel in Morocco. It has a moving history and Winston Churchill is on the most well-known guests.

The hotel was reopened in 2009, after a three year renovation phase by the famous French architect Jacques Garcia. Garcia managed to create a real oasis of stillness, a truly inspiring location.

It is far cheaper and particularly charming to spend a night in one of the many riads in the old town, but I would still recommend all Marrakech visitors to enjoy an afternoon tea at La Mamounia. Enjoy peppermint tea and then saunter through the beautiful garden.

One more secret tips from me: There’s a brunch at the pool on Sundays from 12:30 onwards. The atmosphere and most importantly the food with all kinds of delicacies from the sea are completely overwhelming. However, this treat is not that cheap.
