Dar Cherifa – meeting place for the arts scene, gallery, inspirational oasis of peace

Dar Cherifa is in the heart of the souks, hidden in a small side street. The historical riad dates back to the 16th century and it was extensively renovated in 2000 and is now rightly considered one of the most beautiful buildings of the city. Right next to it is the oldest building in the Medina.

Dar Cherifa is now considered a lovingly managed literature and arts café and a real oasis of peace. You can recover from the hustle and bustle of the city with a lovely cup of tea or try authentic Moroccan food. There are regular events, workshops and interesting exhibitions at Dar Cherifa. And anyone just wanting to disappear for a while and can retreat into the in-house library with a cup of tea.

Apart from the art on offer, I can confidently recommend two trips to the Dar Cherifa when travelling in Marrakech. During the day the cool courtyard is very inviting with its comfortable cushions, where you let the brilliant colours and stucco decoration work their magic. During the evening, the roof terrace is great location from which to enjoy the starry night above Marrakech.
